The parents of a minor child who solve an uneasy situation in life in connection with divorce or separation have a chance to a faster termination of the legal proceedings that concerns the child welfare, regulation of the contact with the child, the child maintenance etc. On 30 September 2017 the amendment of act on special court proceedings came into force placing duty on guardianship courts on the merits (i.e. to pronounce sentence) within 6 months from the commencement date of the guardianship proceedings. In case that the court fails to keep the term, it is obliged to specify the factual circumstances why it was not possible to resolve the issue in the six months´ term set by law.
